How to properly use oleo-calcareous liniment

A mixture of olive oil and lime water, oleo-calcareous liniment is a natural product mainly used for baby’s skin. It can be made at home. But how to properly use the oleo-calcareous liniment bought in your pharmacy…

Use the baby liniment for the hygiene and the toilet of the babies

A simple mixture of olive oil and lime water, oleo-calcareous liniment is a natural product used in particular to gently clean baby’s bottom.

It has largely proven itself with its soothing and antiseptic properties for moisturizing the skin of babies during the change.

In case of redness or diaper rash, the oleo-calcareous liniment gently cleanses baby’s bottom . Simply apply it with a reusable cotton pad or wipe to remove dirt and impurities from your little one’s bottom. It then leaves a thin layer of nourishing oil on the surface of the skin to protect it and prevent possible diaper rashes or redness.

Other benefits of oleo-calcareous liniment, it eliminates cradle cap. It is enough to apply it on the scabs a few hours before the bath, then proceed with a mild shampoo. If baby has dry skin or eczema, the liniment can also be used as a body moisturizer after the bath. More simply, the baby liniment is used to wash the child on waking or after a meal.

The oleo-calcareous liniment as a natural make-up remover for mom

The liniment is both gentle and very effective because it digs deep into your skin for impurities. Thanks to its great softness, the liniment makes it possible to remove make-up, impurities and pollution while respecting all skin types, even sensitive.

The composition of oleo-calcareous liniment is simple. It consists of Sesame Oil and Lime Water in equal parts. These 2 ingredients interact with each other in a process of saponification (it’s the same chemical reaction as to make a soap) and this gives the liniment. It carries with it encrusted impurities, like soap. That’s why it’s so effective

As the liniment is in liquid form, be sure to pour a few drops on a cotton pad and pass the cotton pad soaked in liniment over the entire face. You can also apply it with your hand and clean with a wipe or a compress. On the other hand, like a soap, the oleo-calcareous liniment has a basic pH (acidity or basicity index), whereas the pH of the skin is acidic. It is advisable to rebalance the pH of the skin to complete the cleansing of the face with a cotton soaked in hydrosol (hydrosols are acidic in 98% of cases), or to use a face tonic, such as weleda make-up remover for example. .

Liniment to hydrate dry skin

The oleo-calcareous liniment is a very moisturizing product with a creamy texture. It deposits a light surgras film on the skin in order to protect it. Particularly suitable for dry and fragile skin, it has soothing but also antiseptic properties. It is possible to use it as a moisturizer for the body, for the face but also as a make-up remover. Also, you can pour a few drops in your bath to come out with soft skin like baby’s

On the other hand, its formula is too rich for combination to oily skin.

  • Used for facial hydration: it can be applied directly to the skin with fingertips, with or without rinsing.
  • Also used for hydration of the body: it can be used directly in the shower like a shower cream or out of the water like a classic body moisturizer.
  • Young mothers can use it on their nipples to prevent and soothe cracks caused by breastfeeding. It is then to be applied after feeding, and it is essential to clean the breast well before the next feeding so that the baby does not ingest any product.

How to choose the right oleo-calcareous liniment?

Liniments are generally 100% natural products. On the other hand the quantity of oil can vary from one liniment to another so if you want a maximum of oil, it is better to favor a short list of ingredients (the ingredients are in order of quantity in the composition). You must find in the formula an almost identical proportion of lime water and vegetable oil. Beware of aluminum salts, parabens, preservatives, perfumes and dyes which can attack baby’s fragile skin. We recommend, for example, theMustela Baby Dermo Protector liniment and Organic Cattier liniment
