3 essential steps to take care of your intestines

Taking care of your intestines is essential for our health. Autumn is the ideal season to undertake a bowel detox . Indeed, it is a major transitional season during which it is important to prepare your body to enter the cold season. The autumnal energy gently invites you to introspection, but also to return home. It is a privileged moment to take stock and reflect. If spring is associated with the liver, fall is a great time to take care of your bowels .

Take care of your intestines, an essential step for your health

The intestinal balance is essential for the proper functioning of our organism.

It allows :

  • A good transit
  • Correct assimilation of nutrients
  • Optimal functioning of our immune system
  • Effectively eliminate toxins from the body
  • To prevent the development of pathogenic microorganisms

What can unbalance the gut microbiota?

  • A stressful life
  • Regular consumption of medications or antibiotics
  • Smoking
  • An unbalanced diet (refined foods, lack of fiber, white sugar, too much meat and animal fats, sugary drinks, insufficient water, excess acidifying foods and alcohol abuse) .

Rebalancing your intestines is organized into three equally important steps

1 → Drain:

The drainage of the intestines is carried out as part of a detoxification treatment of the body. It can be done mechanically, using enemas or colon hydrotherapy sessions. Also, it is possible to use certain plants such as licorice , walnut , lemon balm , fennel , black radish , burdock , fumitory , etc.

Anyway, the choice will be made according to the state of health of your intestines, according to your specific field and according to your sensitivity.

This first step allows to evacuate the accumulated toxins and to free the intestine .

2 → Sanitize:

The next phase, too often forgotten, is to cleanse our intestines. This step is essential because it eliminates any pathogenic bacteria. This action will help promote the development of good bacteria which are essential for the balance of the intestinal microbiota . Grapefruit seed extract , clay , propolis , as well as activated charcoal can be used for their purifying and oxygenating properties.

  • Grapefruit seed extract:

It owes all its properties to the flavonoids it contains. These flavonoids belong to a group of polyphenols which promotes the good bacteria of the intestinal flora . Thus, it boosts immunity since 70% of our immune system is produced in the intestines. Also, it promotes the decrease in intestinal permeability by reducing inflammatory states.

  • Green clay :

It acts as a real natural anti-poison. Indeed, it has a strong absorbing power which attracts poisons, toxins and impurities from the digestive tract without releasing them. In short, it is an effective way to cleanse the digestive system and rid the intestine of toxins, germs, worms and pathogenic bacteria without destroying the intestinal flora as antibiotics would.

  • Propolis :

It has a purifying and regulating role, it facilitates drainage, elimination and naturally promotes the balance of the intestinal flora.

  • Activated carbon:

It absorbs all bacterial toxins from the intestine, whether heavy metals or any other substances provided by food and drug treatments. It is preferable to take it in powder form for more efficiency and you should not forget to consume it at a distance (about 2 hours) from taking medication or other supplements.

3 → Balance your intestinal microbiota:

The intestinal microbiota corresponds to all the microorganisms that populate our digestive tract. A balanced microbiota forms a protective barrier against adhesion, but also the development of pathogenic germs. It also guarantees good intestinal absorption of nutrients.

Indeed, once drained and cleansed, the intestine must be reseeded with probiotics .

Probiotics are microorganisms that play a beneficial role in the health of our intestines. They work by strengthening the natural bacteria present in the intestine. Thus, digestive comfort is increased, the absorption and assimilation of micro-nutrients from food are promoted. Also, the body’s immune defense is increased.

We can also provide our body with new nutrients to nourish the microbiota and promote its development. For this, it is important to consume foods rich in fiber such as: raw, cooked, lacto-fermented vegetables, as well as whole and semi-complete grains (oats, quinoa, millet, bulgur, buckwheat…). These foods are called prebiotics. They nourish the microbiota and are therefore necessary for the growth of probiotics in the intestine.

What are the symptoms of a microbiota imbalance?

  • Digestive disorders: abdominal pain, bloating, transit disorders
  • Candidiasis
  • Food intolerance
  • Allergies
  • Skin disorders: eczema, psoriasis …
  • Frequent infections: ENT, urinary, vaginal

To take care of our intestines as well as possible, it is good to follow these tips in addition to a hypotoxic , healthy, but also light diet . Thus, this will give you the opportunity to reform some of your eating habits, if necessary.

NB: On a mental level, taking care of your intestines notably prevents depressions, other mood or sleep disorders, frequent in this season.

With all of these tips, your gut will be all set for heavy winter meals.
