Aches: Kesako?

Aches are muscle pains that develop after doing an exercise for which no proper training had previously been done.

Definition of aches and pains

They are directly related to the release of lactic acid into tissues. This pain is maximum 24 to 48 hours after exercise, then decreases afterwards, and then normally disappears after one week. It is felt at rest, but it is especially when you put pressure on the muscle, when you contract it or when you stretch it that the pain is most intense.

How to avoid aches and pains

Power

  • Limit excess intake of acid-generating foods (dairy, refined sugar in all its forms)
  • Drinking regularly during exercise to drain metabolic waste
  • Reduce your tea or coffee intake

Exercise

  • Prepare for the effort by heating up the body temperature to a gradual increase to 38.5 degrees Celsius.
  • Practice progressive training over time and in the effort of your body. the training load must be even softer and spread over a longer period of time if the activity for which one is preparing has a high rate of eccentric muscle contractions such as strength training, running, alpine skiing, snowshoeing, as well as any activity during which one must cushion a fall.
  • Avoid abruptly interrupting an intense effort. Always finish with stretching
  • After physical activity, dive into a hot bath to promote waste disposal.
  • Doing an activity other than the aches and pains (e.g., swimming effortlessly for about 20 minutes the day after a marathon) increases blood pressure in damaged muscles without straining them too hard, which probably reduces the swelling that accompanies inflammation.
