Taking care of your eyelashes

Nowadays, our eyelashes are exposed to a lot of things! In particular mascara, false eyelashes, extension glue, all kinds of make-up, make-up remover, pollution and other dust. Needless to say, our lashes endure a lot on a daily basis. Serums, lotions, day creams, masks… Such is the daily life of our skin, in terms of care. The question I ask myself is this: Don’t our lashes deserve to be pampered too?

Eyelashes

In short, eyelashes have a protective function. They are designed to prevent dust and debris from entering the eye. There are about 80 lashes in four rows on the lower eyelid. The upper eyelid has between 90 and 160. In addition, the eyelash itself consists of the shaft, the root and a bulb. The bulb itself is connected to the blood vessels. The life cycle of an eyelash is 5 to 11 months. Healthy eyelashes can be about 12 mm long and slightly curled.

Some practical tips for healthy eyelashes

  • Use a lash comb
  • Moisturise your lashes
  • Choose a quality serum specially designed for lashes
  • Take breaks from make-up and false eyelashes
  • Make sure you remove your eye make-up carefully
  • Eat a balanced diet rich in essential nutrients

Gentle make-up removal

There’s no need to use harsh products to remove your waterproof mascara. In fact, there are simple options available. Avene Gentle Eye Makeup Remover is a great option for gentle makeup removal. Secondly, Avril ‘s organic makeup remover provides a gentle cleansing. The DHC Make-up Remover Oil removes impurities from the eyelashes and eyelids, while respecting the skin’s hydrolipidic film. Finally, the Palpebral make-up remover from the SVR laboratory is a micellar gel formulated for sensitive eyelids: it is therefore the ideal companion for eyelashes in need of love!

Evening care routine in slow beauty mode

Adopting the slow beauty mode means taking care of yourself in a more responsible way. In short, slow beauty is all about using natural and environmentally friendly products.

Jojoba oil

Jojoba oil is a product of choice for make-up removal. In fact, it is used on a damp cotton pad, like a classic make-up remover. This breaks down the mascara while respecting the skin barrier. Moreover, jojoba oil is non-comedogenic and rich in vitamins and antioxidants: A real treat for your skin and your lashes!

Coconut oil

Coconut oil is a must-have in your beauty kit. You can warm it in your hands and use it as a make-up remover. Just as you would with jojoba oil. It’s a real all-rounder and can be used in the bathroom as a moisturiser, cleanser, hair mask and in the kitchen! However, beware of acne-prone skin, as coconut oil can be comedogenic.

Sweet almond oil

Sweet almond oil is another option for removing make-up. Rich in vitamins and incredibly gentle, it cleanses and nourishes lashes at the same time.

Eat better for healthy lashes

By boosting your diet, you can significantly improve the health of your lashes. Make sure you get enough protein, green vegetables and good fats. Both collagen and biotin have been shown to improve lash health.
