Finding the perfect micelar water

Micellar water takes its name from the micelles it contains. These are small particles that trap impurities. These dirt particles then mix with the aqueous phase to be eliminated. What is special about this water? It has the freshness of a water and the effectiveness of a make-up remover oil, a formidable combination that removes grease, impurities and make-up without irritating the skin and without needing to be rinsed, as Barbara Maison, in charge of medical communication at La Roche Posay, explains.

Micellar water

Reputed to be soothing, micellar water is particularly appreciated by women looking for a gentle make-up remover. Formulated without soap and often without fragrances, it maintains a balanced pH and is suitable for all skin types. This gentleness does not alter its cleansing power. Foundation, waterproof mascara, 24-hour lipstick, micellar water, although fresh and light, removes the most stubborn make-up and is therefore suitable for all women, especially those in a hurry.

The different micellar waters

For babies

Very often compared to liniment micellar water for babies is often compared to micellar water for babies, as it gently cleanses the face or the seat between baths. Its hypoallergenic, paraben-free and alcohol-free formulation offers gentle hygiene that respects the sensitivity of the skin of infants and young children. Although it cleanses and refreshes the epidermis without altering the hydrolipidic film, it very often contains perfumes (highly allergenic in babies) and does not have moisturising properties as is the case with liniment oléocalcaire. It is therefore recommended to use it occasionally for a light diaper change or an express cleansing after meals.

Organic Micellar Water

As its name suggests, organic micellar water has a certified natural formulation containing a statutory percentage of ingredients from organic farming (50.7%). It excludes all risks of allergies and respects the environment. However, this may affect the fragrance as well as the comfort of the skin after use. Moreover, the finish is indeed stickier and less soft than with a classic micellar water.

For acne-prone skin

If this water is aimed at sensitive skin, it is also aimed at skin that suffers from acne. Indeed, these are skins that are often irritated by drying and cleansing treatments. In order to best meet the expectations of these profiles, certain cosmetic brands have devised purifying and cleansing micellar waters. In short, their formulas are non-comedogenic. In addition, they allow for deep cleansing of the skin, while eliminating excess sebum. Unlike a milk, micellar water is not film-forming and is therefore perfectly suited to skin with imperfections. In fact, it represents the perfect compromise between textures that are too rich and clog the pores and gel textures that are known to irritate the skin.
