After gaining a BTS in cosmetology, she went on to specialise in medicinal plants at the Paris-Saclay Faculty of Pharmacy. She has completed a university course that is unique in France: the Licence Professionnelle Conseiller Spécialisé en Herboristerie et Produits de Santé à base de Plantes, which aims to restore the ancient and fascinating profession of herbalist. The course was created and is taught by Pierre Champy and Sabrina Boutefnouchet. Pierre Champy is an institutional expert in phytotherapy and aromatherapy for ANSM and ANSES. He co-directs various academic programmes and chairs the AFERP. His phytochemistry research focuses on West African medicinal plants and poisonous plants. Sabrina Boutefnouchet is Senior Lecturer in Pharmacognosy at Paris Descartes University and co-director of a Diplôme d'études supérieures (DIU) in phytotherapy and aromatherapy. She is a member of the Nutrivigilance group at ANSES and coordinates a group on herbalism at the Association Française pour l'Enseignement et la Recherche en Pharmacognosie. A number of well-known speakers took part in this licence, including Aline Mercan, general practitioner and phytotherapist, media contributor in natural health and teacher in phyto-aromatherapy and ethnobotany at the universities of Grenoble and Rennes. Michel Pierre, director of the historic Herboristerie du Palais Royal in Paris, author of books on plants and president of the Synaplante union of herbalists (which brings together all the players in the sector, from herbalists to simple herb gatherers) also spoke. As well as studying medicinal plants, she has a passion for animals and horse riding, which she has practised since childhood. To broaden her expertise, she trained in comfort animal physiotherapy.
